Should I Take A Prenatal?
It has been a MINUTE, huh?! I have been so swamped in the transition to two kids and full-time SAHM life that I have just not at all prioritized my blog here. I really would like to get back to it in 2026 and set a goal for myself to write at least one post per month, so here we are! I love these longer form ways of sharing about things I know and love with you, and I hope you enjoy reading them :)
I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since my son was born (a birth story I still can’t believe I have yet to document here - maybe I will for his birthday!) It’s been a tough but beautiful year and quite the postpartum roller coaster for me (that’s another story for another day), but I’m really glad I’ve been able to stay consistent with my nutrition and supplementation because I think I would have emotionally and mentally coped a lot worse if I hadn’t kept all of that up. Which is why I wanted to share here about my experience taking prenatals. I know some people say that you ‘don’t need a prenatal if you have good nutrition’, or that you don’t need one after you’ve had your baby, but I’m not sure I totally buy into either claim. I do truly believe that I am nourishing my body with whole, real foods most of the time, but I know I still have times where I fall short (and especially don’t eat enough vegetables or eat enough variety of micronutrients) because motherhood is part chaos and I just can’t do it all! I also know that the past four years of being pregnant and/or nursing have likely depleted my nutrient stores, and I could use all the help replenishing those!
That’s where my favorite supplement company, Needed, comes in. Needed is on a mission to help women become optimally nourished before, during, and after pregnancy because too many women are running on empty, dealing with fatigue, brain fog, and feeling depleted in their childbearing years. Unfortunately, many supplements on the market give women only the bare minimum. It is estimated that 95% of women taking standard prentals are still nutritionally depleted… Needed is different though! They are deeply committed to women in the perinatal years - which is a cause I am very passionate about, as you well know :)
Needed just reformulated their prenatal to be a concise 3-pill dose (goodbye to the dreaded 8 capsule prenatals!) Needed Prenatal Multi Essentials provides 8x more nutrition than leading prenatals (based on the total daily dosage of nutrients provided compared to leading prenatals as determined by IRI sales data as of December, 2025.) to deliver optimal support before, during, and after pregnancy. Whether you’re navigating first-trimester nausea or the daily demands of your busy life, you deserve a streamlined formula that delivers meaningful nutrition, and a prenatal is always a good idea to help you feel your best so you can be your best for yourself and your family. So to answer the question in the title of this blog post. YES, you should be taking a prenatal! And I’d highly recommend Needed’s.
I’ve included a chart below that compares the nutrients in the Needed Prenatal Multi Essentials to other common prenatals on the market. As you can see, it’s obvious why I recommend this one over any other! Their radically better formula nourishes the body to prepare for pregnancy, supports healthy hormone production, supports the baby’s brain and cognitive development, supports full-term birth and postpartum recovery, and supports overall healthy fertility.
If you happen to be reading this blog post before the sale ends on 2/1/26, you can take advantage of the New Year sale that Needed is running right now - you can get 25% any new subscription order, so it’s the perfect time to try out this new formulation at a discount! This new version is a great option for everyone, but especially for those who struggle taking a lot of pills or who have pill fatigue. I know for me personally, if a supplement requires too much of me (like 8 capsules), I’m just going to shut down and not take it at all - which doesn’t help the whole needing to replenish nutrients thing; so 3 is so manageable!
Why don’t you make 2026 the year you prioritize replenishing your nutrient stores if you’re in the thick of the grueling but beautiful years of growing your family? January is a natural reset, with many people focused on building better habits and prioritizing wellness goals for the year ahead, so go ahead and grab that Prenatal Multi Essentials to support consistency and whole-body wellness. You deserve to focus on you, mama :)
